1. What this policy covers
This policy describes what information Swift Digest collects when you visit the site, submit a tip, register for an account, or pay for a membership — and how that information is used.
2. Information collected
Categories of data we may collect:
- Inquiry / tip / contact form submissions — name (or self-supplied alias), email, affiliation (optional), inquiry type, message, and your acknowledgment of these terms.
- Membership account information — email, password (hashed), tier, billing details handled by our payment processor.
- Anonymized site analytics — aggregate visit data (page views, referrer, country) via Plausible Analytics. No cookies, no personal identifiers, no cross-site tracking.
3. How information is used
Information you submit is used only to:
- Respond to your tip, correction, or inquiry and route it to the appropriate desk.
- Operate your member account and provide access to subscriber content.
- Send transactional emails — receipts, account changes, and member briefings you have opted into.
- Aggregate analytics to improve the site.
4. What your information is never used for
We do not sell reader data. We do not run programmatic ads, behavioral retargeting, or third-party tracking pixels. Tips submitted with a confidentiality request are never linked back to a published piece without your consent.
5. Source protection
Tipsters who request confidentiality receive it. We do not log IP addresses on tip submissions beyond what is necessary to deliver the message, we encourage use of pseudonyms or burner email, and we do not surrender source identities to third parties without a court order — and even then, we will fight unnecessary disclosure.
6. Service providers
Third-party services involved in operating Swift Digest:
- Cloudflare Workers — receives form submissions, validates them, and hands them to the email provider. Nothing is stored; the request lives in memory only for the duration of the POST.
- Email delivery service — transactional email delivery for form submissions, account emails, and member briefings.
- Payment processor — handles membership billing. Card data is never stored on Swift Digest servers.
- Plausible Analytics — anonymized, cookieless site metrics.
7. Retention
Inquiry emails are retained as long as they're useful for editorial records. Member account data is retained for the life of the account plus a reasonable period afterward to handle billing reconciliation. You can request deletion at any time.
8. Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal information we hold. Email [email protected] and we will action the request within a reasonable timeframe.
9. Cookies and tracking
Swift Digest does not use third-party tracking cookies, advertising pixels, or behavioral retargeting. Plausible Analytics is cookieless by design. Cookies are used only for member-account session state and a few minor site preferences.
10. Security
Reasonable technical and organizational measures are in place to protect submitted information, but no online transmission or storage is 100% secure.
11. Children
Swift Digest is not directed at children under 13, and no information is knowingly collected from them.
12. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated occasionally. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
